Strategic Plan Beekeeping 23-27 | Increased resilience against the Asian Hornet through connection and innovation

Project executor: Limburg Beekeepers Association (LIB - Mr. Frans Daems)
This project is a continuation of the completed project “Selective control of the invasive exotic ‘Asian hornet’ to protect the honeybee and biodiversity”. The project shifts the focus to affordable transmitters and environmentally friendly extermination techniques (such as vacuum techniques). The project aims to intervene in the different developmental phases of the Asian hornet: spring trapping (capturing with selective bait traps of the queens during the formation of the primary nest), support for the spotters (locating foraging workers that are forming a secondary nest), and finally locating hard-to-find nests with Bluetooth transmitters and search equipment.
